Hello. I am using Linux Mint 21.3 cinnamon and Firefox 144.0.2 When I use Google maps and the yellow small pointer (cartoon) to go on a specific street, the window come black when shifting to street view. My only extension is disabled, hardware acceleration unchecked, cache cleared and cookies cleared. I have made fresh install and nothing help. Troubleshooting mode allow street view to work fine but normal mode don't work. Google chrome work good. Chromium work good. And finally, Firefox work ok on my Linux mint LMDE 6.

Any idea where to go to solve this issue?

Thanks for your support

André

Hi, I just want to ask about the customization option on the new tab's low right corner (the little pencil icon). I've had a background image called "Galaxy" that i thought was pretty, but it disappeared (probably sync settings on other devices, idc) and now the background is just system gray. The issue is that i cannot find the system background in "Themes" nor in the "Customization" (picrel) - there is only "reset to defaults". I really like Firefox and this was pretty cool so I'd like it back. Thanks in advance :)

I have Privacy & Security set to Strict with Cookies and Site Data deleted when the browser is closed with only 3 sites in the exclusion tab. I also use a VPN to assist with masking and for connections to defined systems and as part of that I will randomly set it to different countries 'because I can'.

I was looking at the website for the current Rugby World Cup (https://www.rugbyworldcup.com) but it was showing the wrong times for the matches. A little digging showed it had remembered my location from some point last week when the VPN was active and set to Iceland.

There is nothing I can find in my browser settings to permit this and I would appreciate pointers to check further since one of the reasons I have set the higher level of restrictions in my browser is to stop this kind of activity from websites.

Hello, I just used the Firefox 141.0 (aarch64) wizard for Raspberry Pi OS 1.0, to import bookmarks from Brave, however the wizard said 0 bookmarks imported.

I also manually exported and imported the bookmarks.html file and the latest bookmarks aren't appearing at the top. It seems the bookmarks are nested in some bookmarks directory by default. I'm confused?

Also I tried a manual import several months ago but same issue about some strange nesting structure rather than simply appearing at the top. Now I'm really confused and worried I'll lose my bookmarks as there's about 3 version in various nested structures. Please help just make an easy move to Firefox.

How to migrate from the old Firefox about:profiles/profile manager to the new profiles? And what are the differences?

I was positively surprised recently when the new Firefox profile manager (about:profilemanager) was introduced. https://www.tech2geek.net/how-to-use-the-new-updated-profile-manager-in-firefox-2025/ is an article about that.

However, I thought it's just a new visual UI with an in-browser switcher for the existing profiles (that I already had setup). However, it does not appear so.

The differences I see:

      1. old profile management
  • was managed by `about:profiles` or when starting FIrefox with `-P`
  • is saved in `~/firefox` and the `profiles.ini` clearly and quite obviously mentions them there, so it's easy to manage them.

I also found this old support article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles

      1. new profile management
  • automatically asks on startup if more than one profile exists
  • is managed by `about:profilemanager` or with the Firefox burger menu
  • seems to be saved in `~/.mozilla/firefox/Profile Groups` (Linux path here) in some .sqlite files, and I do not quite understand the format. Not mentioned in `profiles.ini`.
  • also, when you change something here (even like opening a profile?), you cannot open `about:profiles` anymore, because it says "Some Firefox process has made changes to your profile, […] you need to restart Firefox", only after a restart further changes would be possible, which I find quite confusing but it also indicates somehow the features belong together?

And this seems to be the new one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-management#w_whats-the-difference-between-profiles-and-multi-account-containers

    1. Questions
  • What are the differences here (I may have missed)?
  • How can the new profile feature save so few files? Is it technically called "profile groups"?
  • And the most important: How can I migrate an old profile? (In order to use the new features and GUI etc. I quite like)

Is it possible to click individual segments of an URL in the address bar to navigate there directly (without manually selecting and deleting the tail)? It's a convenient way to reach upper layers of a website.

For example Vivaldi implements it via Ctrl+<Mouseover/click> (see attached screen capture)

Is there an option or addon to enable this? Thanks in advance

Is it possible to make a donation to Mozilla without providing so much personal information? I got a message on Firefox today asking for a donation, but when I tried to do that, I was asked for my home address. It's a general rule of internet marketing that people who use the internet would rather do anything than pay for something, so it's bad psychology to impose unnecessary conditions when you're asking for a donation. I don't have to provide my home address when I make donations to other organisations, so why does Mozilla need my home address? I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this question, but I can't find anywhere else to ask it!

Thanks,

Shaun.
