when i re-boot and try to re-open firefox,windows 7 error message says that i do not have access to the firefox file

problems started when firefox 3 auto updated to 4 when i booted up and tried double click on short cut it gave error message that i did not have access to file I am running windows 7 shortcuts had gone to degraded state on screen if i have to re-boot i have to re-download firefox am now running firefox 5 when shutting down, the firefox shortcut icon flickers/shudders
