Why are addresses neglected in Thunderbird?

While there are separate tabs for Email, Calendar and Tasks, the address book must appear separately as a separate box. This is odd because almost all actions handled in Thunderbird are interactions with other people. In addition, the search within the addresses is extremely rudimentary. For example, I like to write additional characteristics in the note field, such as "brother of...", or "met him in ...". But I cannot search for that. The note field is not included for the search.

Of course you can solve all this with the "Cardbook" extension. But what bothers me is that I don't have direct access to my address information, it is only synchronised.

In former times there was an extension "AdressbookTab", but this was not updated for the newer versions. Therefore I wonder generally why the default "Contacts" area is neglegted in Thunderbird.

Perhaps I should also mention that my addresses are synchronised with SOGO, Exchange or Google so that I have them on all devices. Thunderbird is unfortunately the weakest link here in the basic version.
