After typing a url on the address it does nothing (older versions work). Same happens in search area.
I have tried some of the sollutions given but nothing works. I am not in compatibility mode nor do i have a firewall.
I am running win xp in a computer lab (school lab) and some the computers work but others don't.

Are you the tech? What you describe is too general, there are many possibilities.
Firewall, Internet Access, Protection Programs, Malware, System Problems . . . . .
The problem started after an update of Firefox.
Since then firefox does not work (After typing a url on the address area it does nothing (older versions work). Same happens in search area.
Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
- Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).

Thank you for your reply, but as i mentioned before, there is no firewall or other internet security program
