Flash makes Firefox / my entire PC hang

Sites using flash make Firefox hang, sometimes even my entire PC. Occasionally it's so bad I cannot even use my mouse. I make sure to always have the newest version of Firefox and the Flash plugin but this never changes. It started maybe half a year ago, I didn't have this problem with earlier Firefox versions.

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.

I already turned off Flash Protected mode. But I cannot turn off Flash Hardware Acceleration, I remove the check mark and it stays this way as long as Firefox is running, but it's usually back for some reason when I restart Firefox.

I saw the solutions for other questions, but they are not an option for me. I can't permanently use safe mode and I can't turn off flash to have to turn it on manually seeing as far too many sites require flash to view their main content.

Isn't there a way to use Firefox normally on sites with flash?
