Firefox cannot open websites when I click on an MSN link or a file stored in hard disk with "Firefox is already running but not responding"

Cannot open a link from another program, only by typing/copy-pasting at an open window. Also, it will not open a new window when clicking on a Firefox shortcut. Always with the same "Firefox is already running but not responding" message
