Hey guys,

We use Firefox on our macs in our company. We used to be able to place a cert8.db inside /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/defaults/Profile/ and any new user would receive this cert8.db as their cert8. In the last one or two updates of Firefox, this no longer works. I see that on windows the location was moved to browser > defaults > profile > cert8.db

Is there some similar folder for macs than i have to create for this to work again? I created /Applications/firefox.app/Contents/browser /defaults/profile and put the cert8 in there but that did not work. I can't find anything for this cert8 issue on macs. please let me know.

Thanks! Nick

Nick,

Can you please confirm that the issue you are facing is the same as the one raised already for Thunderbird - Default profile with cert8.db doesn't work.

If the issue is the same, then it will help the development team narrow the issue to the NSS (am guessing the issue is the same, since the cert8.db could be used between different components)

On a related note, can you please confirm that the cert8.db that you are copying has the root certificates for your enterprise's CA and hence you are looking for this certificate to be available on all the Mac books (for accessing your enterprise's sites, using the internal CA signed certs).

Thank you

Hi Cor-el,

Thanks for the fast response. Yes, that is the same issue we are facing, but our platform is on a mac (on that link it was for windows.) I have placed the cert8.db in the old folder that used to work (defaults / profile / ) and have done the new one ( browser / defaults / profile ) and still have the same issue of firefox creating a new cert8.db.

thanks, Nick
