Mozilla says "Your system doesn't meet the requirements to run Firefox" but when I check the requirements, my system meets all. What gives?

ok, when i look closer it seems like your useragent is overwritten by some sort of toolbar or adware. please refer to this article in order to reset the user-agent settings in firefox, then it should work: How to reset the default user agent on Firefox

hello jashton34, did you write your question from the system affected? because its useragent (the information the browser sends to websites to identify its version and system where it's running) says it's on Mac OS X 10.5...

more options

Thanks madperson, Yes, I did write my question from the same system, but I'm running 10.6, I promise. The system came with 10.5 installed but I upgraded to 10.6 a while ago. Here's a copy and past from my system profiler, and I've attached a screen shot of my About This Mac.

System Software Overview:

 System Version:	Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549)
 Kernel Version:	Darwin 10.8.0
 Boot Volume:	Macintosh HD
 Boot Mode:	Normal
Computer Name:	Jeff Ashton's Computer (2)
 User Name:	Jeff Ashton (jeffashton)
 Secure Virtual Memory:	Not Enabled
 64-bit Kernel and Extensions:	No
Time since boot:	15 days 14 minutes

The useragent is clearly a liar, do you know if there's any way to fix that?

hello viturbo, without more information its difficult to know what might be going wrong...

when the preferences concerning the user-agent in about:config were not shown in bold that means they were already set to their default & can't be reset. please go to help > troubleshooting information, copy the whole contents of this page & paste them here into a forum reply, this might give us some further clues. thank you

You can call 1-800-MY-APPLE and order a dvd for $20 if you are in USA unless you can get one in Apple stores by chance.
