Using the hyperlink you provided - westshorecentre.com - I end up here - http://www.learnforlife.ca/ - is that the correct website?

Under - Distributed Learning & Online on this page - http://www.learnforlife.ca/welcome.php - there's a menu item for WebCT Login, when you load the page that link points to is that the page that crashes?

If that is correct, it looks like the WebCT version used there is a bit older and only supports Firefox 3.5 as the latest version. (Use the Browser Check item on that page to get here.)

Below is a list of supported browsers for Windows

   * Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8.0.3 and up
   * Firefox 2.0, 3.0, 3.5

Since support for Firefox 3.5 will be ending soon, my advice is to install Portable Firefox 3.5.19 to you hard drive and use that older version for accessing your school's WebCT portal; keep using Firefox 4.0.# for other websites that are a bit more up-to-date.

If you would use an older version of the regular version of Firefox 3.5 along with 4.0.1, you would have to create a Profile specifically for that old version, while maintaining your current Profile for 4.0.1; plus you would need to create desktop shortcuts for both version/Profiles to keep the Profiles "aligned" with the appropriate version of Firefox. Not hard to do, but not easy for non-expert users, either. The Portable version gets around the mentioned complications.
