How can I delete a tab that keeps appearing when I start Firefox?

I have closed a tab which keeps appearing when I sign in on Firefox. I am finished with the information on the tab; but I can't get rid of it. I hit the delete sign on the tab and it goes away; however it comes back when I sign in on Firefox again.

This is happening on my Macbook with all of the latest software.

This can also be a problem with the file sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

Delete sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

In tools, select options , click tabs. Customize the settings and see if that works. Also try clearing cookies and history.
