A second TB icon appeared yesterday. It is stuck permanently on the screen. Even the dock does not get rid of it. Also, as you can see from the dock picture, an icon is on the dock and an icon is "on top" of the dock. How do I get rid of this second icon?

OK, the mystery deepens. I now have ended up with 3 windows open on TB...see below.....and when I click on the icon this black box appears. I cannot click on any of the commands in the box. When I issue thunderbird -kill on the command line, nothing happens! What the devil is going on?

I managed to capture this from my terminal:

Actually what seems to happen is that when I send an email (this does not happen if I reply) a second version of TB opens......and that is what causes the extra orange dots on the icon....but why would a new version open when I write an email???

The thunderbird -kill command output did not terminate (as above)...it just paused at the last line above....when left to its own devices, it spewed out the lines above.

Does anybody know what is going on here?

Actually, I just realized that that last post was not a termination of the command either, it was still open...

When I reboot, the second/third/fourth - depending on how many emails I have sent vanishes and we are back to just one version.

So, after all that information above, it seems i all boils down to ....how do I stop having a new pop-out menu every time I write a new email. I am using TB 78.11..

Does anybody know how to stop the pop out window please?
