"Couldn´t load XPCOM." Uninstalled & Reinstalled Thunderbird....no response when clicking on email inboxes?

"Couldn´t load XPCOM." Error message came up after latest Microsoft Windows 8 security update. Thunderbird would not run. Uninstalled & Reinstalled Thunderbird....no response when clicking on email inboxes? Am able to click on Inbox for each email, but it does not go to inbox, stays on default inbox? I have 4 different email accounts mixture of imap and pop.

tried holding the shift key while starting Thunderbird and continuing in safe mode when prompted to do so.
