when I open Thunderbird I get a message that the "sever has timed out" for ...@gmail.com, so completely inactive.

I use a Macbook pro with Yosemite 10.2.2 and the notice "connection to server ......@gmail.com has timed out" appears in the right upper corner momentarily. G-mail says the account does exist and works in G-mail, but cant use it on Thunderbird for that reason. My other (older) g-mail account works on the same equipment just fine. I'm a novice and don't know how to fix.

Update: I Just deleted and reinstalled account from Google to Thunderbird. Problem solved to my satisfaction, though original cause unknown
