downloading duplicate messages or meesages all ready downloaded (after not enough disk space error)

Problem started with not enough disk space error. I moved most all the messages from teh inbox to another folder. The problem is, now thunderbird has lost track of the last message number it downloaded from the email server and is trying to redownload all the message it previously downloaded. How do I set the last message downloaded so it will pickup only the truly new messages?
