The zoom function, ctrl-++, does nothing unless I first select menu::zoom::ctrl-++. After that I can zoom in and out at will. It would be more useful if: 1. I did not need to go to the menu activate zoom 2. Zoom remembered its previous setting

Is there a way to achieve such niceties?

How do I increase the font size on the inbox page? (not the message, but the list of messages with subject, from, date, etc.) It is too small for me.

How do I change the font in the auto signature so that zeros do not have lines in them and it is black and not gray.

How do I delete the two dashes that automatically precede my signature when I compose a new message? (They do not appear in the pane where I created my signature.)

How do I set text to be a hyperlink in my signature?

Thanks. Bill

The update before last really messed up my T-Bird. I've been using it for years (2005?) and have been very happy with it. On the upgrade in question, it blew away all my filters, which were MANY. Luckily, I was an IT guy for a number of years and figured out how to get them back by copying and renaming the msgFilterRules.dat file(s) I had. The MAIN thing I'm having a problem with now is all of my new email -- while it is all going into the right folders as per my filters -- is not bolding until it is read. There used to be a setting where you could set the time it stayed bold before turning back to the plain font. It seems to be gone. This may seem like a small thing, but I've got dozens of folders and now I have to got through each folder to figure out where the new emails are. PS: This is attached to a Gmail account, which again, has been working fine since 2005. Thanks in advance for all of your help! -- John Kiernan

I've found several posts detailing the same issue I encountered recently. Examples are: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1358355 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1160491 They were both replied to with the same suggestion: switching from viewing all headers to viewing only normal headers. However, I would like to view all headers, while including only normal headers when forwarding. If I am correct in thinking this is not possible, why are these settings tied together like this? And can this functionality be separated in a future release?

For starters, I am a very distracted person. I am absolutely able to forget a meeting coming in the next 10 or 20minutes if I get absorbed in a new task, get a phone call, etc. This is why, more than 20 years ago, the company I worked for offered me a (Palm Vx personal digital assistant)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palm_Vx which had the nice feature that alarms for an event needed to be acknowledged (pressing button) to stop ringing. And you could setup an alarm scheme (for example 1day, 1h, 15 min, 5 min before) for all events. With this, I stopped missing meetings. The situation has become unbearable. Outlook, used at my job has only one reminder set per event (in the past you could set up several reminders). It very discreetly bleeps once, and pops a notification. If I am not in front of the computer, I miss it. I have outlook on my phone, connected to a smart watch, which also buzzes my watch if I am in BT range of the phone. No way. This does not work for handicapped people like me (which seem to be rare). My boss is playing that reminding role, he finds it funny but it is not which is not very cool. The is no way MS will re-implement the multiple reminders, of course. So I tried syncing my exchange calendar on thunderbird and I see there is still only one reminder per event. The function that is needed: a big reminder (pop up window with an OK button) which you have to acknowledge, with the ability to set 3, 4, reminders for each event - at once (with default scheme, customizable per event). Most people do not suffer this handicap and will hate this of course. So my question: 1. can this be set up using existing add-ons when syncing from from an exchange calendar (2 other addons are required to sync exchange calendar " activesync", of course). 2. where can this kind of functionality be asked for? Thanks for any help!

Hello, I used Thunderbird for my grand mother. Unfortunately, she often clicks on wrong buttons : especially sorting mails in the reverse order that she cant read recent ones. Is there any way to ensure that at the startup of Thunderbird the mails are ordered with the recent at the top ? (a start up script could be a solution?) It seems that Thunderbird keep in mind the latest sorting applied preventing her to read recent emails even if she reboot the computer. Best, Martin

On my Taskbar I frequently have several minimised pages in both Thunderbird and Firefox that contain multiple tabs of open emails and open webpages respectively. When I want to reopen a page I can click on the appropriate icon. If in Firefox I click on the closure X by mistake I get a warning: 'Confirm before closing multiple tabs'. I get no such warning when I make the same mistake in Thunderbird and can find I have lost several tabs and I may not know which they were.

Is it possible to set up a similar warning in Thunderbird, and if so, how?

I have several filters configured on thunderbird to move email to local folders. Two of these filters are not working right, but were working fine in the past. One filter has the configuration shown in the attached file, filter name Zeek-caseyjones. The other filter has the configuration shown in the other attached image, filter name PaoloMail. I send an email to pgaltieri@gmail.com with subject "caseyjones test". I expect this email to end up in the local folder named PaoloGaltieri, instead it ends up in the local folder Caseyjones. Now the Zeek-caseyjones filter is before the PaoloMail filter but this shouldn't matter. The email I sent does not include "[Zeek]" in the subject hence the Zeek-caseyjones filter should not get run. So what is going on?

Dear Sirs, I handle 3 mail account via Thunderbird. All are shown in folder list on the left side.

1. Often I search in my Mails for subject, text, receiver, .... I can see a list of Mails, also a possibilty to distinguish between folders or contacts. see attachment "search-result.png" But I can't see all the mail-accounts and folder, where the mail is placed. e.g. "posteingang/inbox" exist for each mail-account. Is there an addon I can install to see the exact placement of the mail (mail-account/folder) in the list ?

2. Opening Thunderbird I can see all folders from each mail-account. see attachment "ordner.png" Its possible to shift Mails between the mail-accounts and folders. In case I search for mails, this is not visible I would like to move mails from one mail account (search result) into folder another mail-account. Is there possibility to make more visible, all mail-account and folder structure also in the results of search ? see attachment "search-result.png" In which way I can easily move the "found-mails" into other folder/mail-accounts ?

3. Is it possible to show als mail-account in search list ("Ablageort") ? see attachment "search-visible-folder.png"

thanks in advance bye

Your system is a DOG, I had to reset my laptop and when I reinstalled Thunderbird, I didnt know there was box to Check/uncheck about leaving emails on your server, so to dumped all my emails older than 14 days.

I did try the forum to try and find a repair and only got 1 comment from a Matthew ( I think)

Total waste of time!!!!!

I have swapped to Outlook, cost a little but far better for safety.

I have had this recurring problem with Thunderbird, and only with Thunderbird. I have my Windows 10 taskbar set to auto-hide, so that it reappears when I hover the mouse over its location. This works for all programs but Thunderbird. When I have Thunderbird in expanded (full screen) window mode, hovering over the taskbar area does not make the taskbar reappear. The only way I can see it is to minimize the Thunderbird window.

I had found a solution for this that worked for months, but I can't find it now. Today I found this archived topic:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1271091

I set all the options as recommended in this article, although some of them seem irrelevant. I was so pleased that it solved the problem. Except that two hours later, the problem returned. I hadn't restarted the computer in the meantime, although the screen had turned off automatically in the meantime. I checked that all the settings were still as recommended in the article.

I know this has been a recurring issue with Thunderbird, because it's been bothering me off and on for years, and I always see other people are bothered by it. (I've also seen complaints about this happening with Firefox, which I no longer use.)

Usually I see the issue blamed on Windows, but it doesn't happen with Microsoft Office, any of several browsers, my photo editing software, Netflix, Youtube, or indeed with no other program but Thunderbird. It's hard to believe the fault lies with Windows. I could work around it by not using Thunderbird in fullscreen window mode, but that means the two window modes are practically the same size, and I really do sometimes want a smaller email window and sometimes a larger window. I would like to be able to shift between the two modes without losing my Windows taskbar.

The archived article referenced above has been marked as "Solved", although I beg to differ.
