What is the correct URLs to set Google as the default search provider and make it permanent?

I am attempting to make Google the default search engine for Firefox 60 ESR.

I am trying User Configuration.

Default Search Engine = Google (not sure if just put a random name or the actual URL) Prevent Search Engine Installs = Enabled Search Engine One: - Name = Google - URL Template = {google:baseURL}suggest?q={searchTerms} - Method = GET

It's not that it applies to new profiles, it's that it only applies once.

We do not currently have a mechanism to prevent users from changing the default search engine.

Is your goal to only offer one search engine (Google)?

I went through that documentation already. I think I'm just misconfiguring the policy or using the wrong search URLs.

I think I got it working. It seems to only apply to brand-new profiles.

I did URL Template = https://www.google.com/search?q={searchTerms}&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:{language}:{referrer:source}&ie={inputEncoding?}&oe={outputEncoding?}

Again, it only seemed to apply to new profiles.

Is there a way to make it so people cannot change search engines? It doesn't appear like there is.

Good to know there isn't a mechanism in place yet. My goal would be to have only one search engine provided and available. Thanks!

So we'll be adding the ability to remove engines. I think that will get you what you want.

Stay tuned.

I guess the ability I really want is to lock-down the default search engine and not give an end user the ability to change the search engine.

So not necessarily removing search engines, but removing the ability to change search engines.

Hope that clears things up.
