I just updated to firefox 3.6.16. Now my Clear Recent History and Private Browsing under tools are grayed out and I can not click on them.

This can happen if you are in permanent private browsing mode.

  1. Open the Options window and go to the Privacy panel
  2. Change the setting "Firefox will" to "Remember history", alternatively if set to "Use custom settings for history" de-select the setting "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"
