Firefox Macbook Browser trashes all my tabs

OK - this keep happening on my firefox browser on my macbook laptop. I have a default firefox browser open with my 13 default tabs. Now when I have some app, like today specifically, the app for my voice caddy golf app. I open the app, do the update, and if I select any link that opens the voice caddy website, it opens it in a new firefox browser and tab, NOT a tab in my existing firefox with my 13 default tabs. So my default firefox gets trashed. In my firefox settings, I told firefox to open any new tabs in tabs, NOT pages. I also have open the last tabs open where I left off when I close firefox. What a pain. Tried several things to no avail. Why doesn't firefox have a setting (or the current setting do as I told it - open new websites in a new TAB, NOT a new browser.

This may be happening because Firefox is opening links from other apps in a new window, even if you already selected the option to open links in tabs.

Try this:

Open: about:config

Search for:browser.link.open_newwindow

Set it to: 3

Then search for: browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external

Set that to: 3 as well.

This tells Firefox to open external links in a new tab instead of opening another window.

After that, completely close Firefox, open it again, and test the link from the app.

If it still opens another window, go to:

about:profiles

and check if you have more than one Firefox profile. The app may be opening the link in a different profile.

Thank-You Alisson - this solved the problem - I also (somehow) had 3 profiles - deleted all but main one - what I love about firefox is that these settings are great and so granular that you can tweak little problems like I had - Again, Many Thanks !!!!!
