win 10 for me tb 102 does not work.........authentication error..........revert to 9.10/12 works perfectly. sadly 102 insists on updating despite reg edit solution by toadhall "update by administrator disabled" shows in pref..........have to uninstall 102 and reinstall every 2-3 days firefox set to me choose what to install

my other computer (win10) set for me to choose install............no problem

So, you're posting to say you don't need help. Then I wonder why post at all. Toad-Hall is one of the most senior and experienced personnel and could have helped your situation. The time will come when you must upgrade, and you dismissed that assistance. Anyway, I wish you well.

    uninstalling102 reinstall 91 every few days is not a reasonable solution.

Stopping updates is not something I am willing to discuss. It can be done in corporate situations, but for a general user the security risks related to doing so outweigh the satisfaction of doing it your way.

Sadly your other topic on the same question contains more relevant information, but I will be locking it. Duplicates simply waste time.

Although if that does not solve it, then I suggest you try the standard diagnostics.

  • Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Troubleshoot mode). On the Help menu, click on "Troubleshoot mode". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
  • Restart the operating system in safe mode with Networking. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX
If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.
