I invariably get US web sites when searching the web. How can I point my searches to UK web sites?

Hi  !

Maybe your dictionary is a US version.   You can right click on an underlined word to add the correct   (British)  spelling to the existing dictionary,  or install a  British one :

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/british-english-dictionary-2/

Or you could download Firefox for your language:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

For ref:   https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/language-tools/

Good luck   !
