Youtube videos keep crashing firefox

Firefox started crashing this afternoon whenever I try to watch a video on youtube. As soon as the video starts to load, firefox crashes. This just started today. I was able to watch youtube videos earlier today.

That sounds like a problem with the HTML5 media player.

Does this only happen on YouTube?

I tested those media players there and there wasn't any problems with them on that site. I'm still having firefox to crash whenever I try to play a youtuve video.

I refreshed firefox but that did not help. Every time I try to watch a video on youtube, as soon as it starts playing, firefox crashes. I did find the Youtube Flash Video Player add-on for firefox and I installed it and set the setting for flash video player. So far that has stopped firefox from crashing when watching a video on youtube. Is there another way to resolve the issue without having to use this add-on?
