When I get photo attachments and try to view or download them, my screen goes a bit dark and then i have to go out of Yahoo mail and back in to see the next msg. this only recently began happening. how can i fix it?

i see a download or view icon, but the screen gets a bit dark. sometimes i can see the attachment, sometimes not. but after the screen gets darker (but still viewable) i have to exit my mail account (Yahoo) and then go back into it to continue viewing messages.
