hi, I am new to Thunderbird (v102.3.0/64-bit) and just tried to import some "Folder" trial from Eudora to Thunderbird before full scale import

here is some findings after several trial : 1/ Many Many Import/ Export Tools, most of them failed to import. No messages were shown in TB

2/ ImportExportTools NG_v12.0.1 (AddONs) - total no. of messages was imported OK, but few of emails was shown in "BLANK" without content. - it was not successfully

3/ 4n6 MBOX Converter 4.6 - I finally found this one, it was perfect to import all messages successfully, but the Last Sub-Folder Name was added in xxxx.Thunderbird.

For Example : under same folder tree Parent Folder Name OK Second Sub-Folder Name OK Third Sub-Folder Name OK "Last" Sub-Folder Name NG => become xxxx.Thunderbird

Bro, how could I change this settings instead of rename over hundreds folder name ?? or any setting before Import and keep my original folder name ??

I haven't tried it, but Eudora Migrator sells for $29 and supposedly does it all. Although it has been controversial, I had 100% success by installing Eudora 8 (a fork of an early Thunderbird) and importing my wife's Eudora messages and addressbook. And then upgrading Eudora 8 to Thunderbird. It's a possibility to consider. I won't push or advise on it, but it worked for me.

thanks for your advice.

anyway this is my further comments : 1/ I just installed Eudora_v8.0.0.9 and import all messages with original folder name (without any extension). It looks perfect. however the new settings of Eudora was worst than Eudora 7.0

For example : - No One Click button for Save (as Draft) - Even click "save" from menu, it could not save under "Local Folders" - No Quick button (press 1/2/3/4/5) for Tags colour - No OAUTH2 Options

2/ I tried another Export/Import Software today, all messages are imported OK, but it was the same issues for Last Sub-Folder Name(xxx.MBX) + EXTRA 2 Folder Name. It is more worst.

Anyway it seems I prefer to use TB and accept the Last Sub-Folders with extensions name after import Perhaps the software developers want the end-user to identify the imported folders easily (xxx.MBX or xxx.Thunderbird). I do not know....

thanks

Here is my Further study / Trial :

1/ I follow your restore data flow now... from Eudora 7 to Eudora 8, it is very fast restore (import) and only take less than 1 mins if compared with 3rd party Export/Import tools, it took me 3 hours+ based on above 10K messages Trial

2/ From Eudora 8 to TB, it only copy the relevant data/folder/ File etc into message storage location of existing TB, then open TB and show all restore data/folder. it is good & easy. however TB could show the attached file name & location after message restore, but I could not do as one-click to open it. I have to go to the specified location and open it by windows

3/ If I used 3rd party Export/Import Tools, the messages comes with attached file name after import in TB, and just one click to open it as TB's method

In conclusion, from Eudora 8 to TB, it is preferable method because of fast and less work and remain 99% messages format/settings/folder name, although no one-click to open attached file. it is good enough now.

thanks for your valuable advice
