When writing an email, I was able to select "Customize From Address" in From dropdown list. A warning box would open with a warning that not all servers allow custom from addresses. In that warning box, there was a check box that said 'don't show this message again.' I checked the box, but now when I choose "Customize From Address" the selection is still in the list, but can't be selected.

How do I reset the setting to again show the warning message and re-enable custom from address?

Ok I'm with you now :)

Close any 'Write' windows that are open.

Menu app icon > Options Select 'General' scroll to very bottom and click on 'Config Editor' button Accept the warning

In search type: warned You want this line: mail.compose.warned_about_customize_from If it says 'True' then double click on that line to toggle the Value to 'False'

This should get the pop up warning back.

Are you using an addon to achieve this? Was it this addon? https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/custom-sender-address-reply/

That addon has not been updated in quite a while and it says : Works with Thunderbird 3.0 - 60.*

You do not mention what version of Thunderbird you are using, but if you are using 68* or 78* then that addon is not been designed to work in anything more recent.

Okay, it looks like it was my problem. When I clicked on the from address field rather than the dropdown arrow, I was able to enter the custom address. It would still be nice to know how to turn the warning message back on though.

For the record, this is in Thunderbird 78.5 with no add-on for addressing.
