The JoyfulLadle.org is hosted by A2Hosting.com, and has email director@joyfulladle.org. A2Hosting recently changed requirements for email passwords, and don't act on passwords it thinks are too weak; TBird does not connect to the mail server anymore. I can't send or receive emails.

I changed the password, and tried to update the TBird account settings. I entered the new password, and TBird tested the connection. It won't use the old values for incoming and outgoing, and can't discover the proper values.

What should I do? Can I create a new email account with the same name as before? Will that cause the loss of old emails?

re :I changed the password, and tried to update the TBird account settings...... I entered the new password, and TBird tested the connection. Are you sure you were updating the password settings? Tbird tested connection sounds like where you create accounts. Why are you looking in Account Settings? Did they also tell you to change server settings?

Passwords are stored and updated in 'Options'. 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'Security' > 'Passwords' tab click on 'Saved Passwords' button click on 'Show Passwords' button

You should have two entries that need password updating. either 'mailbox://...' if pop account or imap://.... if imap account and also 'smtp://....' for outgoing.

Right click on appropriate line and choose 'Edit Password' enter the correct password

when finished click on 'Close' button click on 'OK'

Exit and then Restart Thunderbird.
