Why will thunderbird not delete messages from hotmail?

Messages from Hotmail keep coming into my inbox for several days at least after I delete them in Thunderbird. I sometimes have to go into Hotmail directly and delete messages. Why is this? and can Thunderbird be programmed to delete in Hotmail? Dennis Berdine

have you tried it without anti virus scanning your mail? A common cause if mail issues.
