Hello all,

Following some changes in our organization, we had to create new email addresses with new domain names. We have kept the old ones until now but we decided to erase some that had not received emails for a while.

Since we did that, we have encountered some problems regarding one of our computer. We can't send emails because Thunderbird is asking us for the passwords of the deleted email accounts. When we click on cancel, a window opens saying (roughly translated from French): "The email could not be sent. Authentification to the SMTP (outgoing server) failed. Please verify your password and the "Authentification method" in the "Account parameters | Outgoing server (SMTP) menu." The email was sent from a completely different email address than the one linked to the email account.

We deleted the accounts and cannot access this menu. Has it happened to anyone? What would be the solution to be able to send email again on that computer?

Since Thunderbird update to Snap ``` 140.12.1esr (64-Bit) Mozilla Thunderbird Snap for Ubuntu ubuntu-snap-build - 1.0 ``` opening attachments ceased to work. What does NOT work (any more):

• Move mouse over attachment → right mouse → open (nothing happens)
• Move mouse over attachment → right mouse → open with (doesn't exist)
• Move mouse over attachment → doubleclick (nothing happens)
• Settings → Attachments → There is an empty box, and in the void beneath it, floating in empty space the text (backtranslated from DE): "Add a Filelink-memory service" or "Filelink-save service" or similar. The text is dead (not clickable), same for the empty box.

AFAIR, in the good old non-snap TB version, the box had file extensions and linked applications to open them. The box / links / extensions coud be added, edited, removed. But in snap crap it's all dead...

Any hints what I am missing?

I used to open attachments from received mails (like .diff, .patch), and also used it for final inspection of own attachments while composing mails.

Sometimes, the following message opos up: /run/user/1000/doc/1d06e601/binutils-sort-text.diff konnte nicht geöffnet werden, weil die damit verknüpfte Hilfsanwendung nicht existiert. Ändern Sie die Verknüpfung in Ihren Einstellungen.

I use Thunderbird v 140.12.1esr to manage email on my email account frankn413@yahoo.co.uk. For the past 2 days sent emails fail with error message "sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to outgoing server SMTP.mail.yahoo.com failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. I have not changed my smtp settings - they are Server = smtp.mail.yahoo.com; Port = 465; user name = frankn413@yahoo.co.uk; Authentication method = OAuth2; Conneciton Security = SSL/TLS

Hello. I regularly sign up for online conferences, then when I get the confirmation email with the details I can't transfer it to the calendar. I even tried saving the ical event separately but when I try opening it using Thunderbird I get an error message. The only way I found is to transfer the contents manually and create an event on calendar, which is time consuming. Anyone knows how to fix this? Thank you in advance

I've asked this question before, but have gotten no response. Maybe I'm not explaining it clearly enough. I will try again. When I name a new file folder, how do I get it in the correct alphabetical order? I end up making it a subfolder in under another incorrect folder or it does not get in correct alphabetical order. I hope this is clearer to understand. I just don't know how to make it any plainer. Thank you for your kind response.

After being on the right side for decades, the Options button on the remote content box was moved to the left side. How does this improve accessibility for the average user? Is there a rational reason for doing so?

My godaddy webmail setting which I configured on thunderbird mail for my Mac Os is not going through anymore.

It was workng absolutely fine until for over a year and now since last week I do not know what is the issue.

Incomin mails work fine, I can see the sent mail if I have sent the mail from Godaddy Webmail, but the email send from thunderbird mail doesnt work. Checked all the settings. also tried switching Port from 465 to 587

Hi, I'm using Version 140.12.1e (64b). Is there any way to block and delete undesirable E-Mails om my Incoming box ? Even while being marked 'Undesirable', they stil coming again. Is there a way to erase them automatically ? Many thanks, Have a good day, Dan

I'm trying to move from Windows to Linux without downloading all my imap messages again. What I've tried: 1. Install tbird on Linux, create new profile. 2. Close tbird. 3. Using Linux file manager,

 - delete contents of new profile folder
 - copy contents of old profile folder into new folder
 - delete Compatibility.ini in the copy

4. Open tbird with -p (profile manager)

I've tried twice with different results. The first time at step 4 I started offline. Thunderbird opened will all my previous tabs open, except that all the internet tabs reported connection failure - as expected. Under account settings, both local folders and my gmail account reported the correct (new, linux) path. When I went online and completed the gmail OAuth dialog thunderbird reported an inbox summary folder error, and deleted all the imap mbox files. I closed and restarted tbird- which failed with a crash dump. the terminal window reported successful minidump creation- the file manager showed the minidump file at zero size.

I repeated the process (recreating the original unmodified profile). This time at step 4 I started online, and tbird never opened- it generated the crash dump immediately.

Two questions: 1. Is it possible to transfer an imap profile and avoid re-downloading all the old messages? 2. What am I doing wrong that I'm getting the crash dumps?

I successfully linked / synced the thunderbird calendar with the iCloud calendar. Calendar entries manually entered in iCloud or iPhone calendar are successfully synced and are visible in the thunderbird mail. The other way round, syncing the existing entries in the Thunderbird calendar does not work. They do not appear in the iCloud or iPhone calendar. Searching the internet, the specific Thunderbird or Apple help-sites did not provide an obvious solution for this problem. I went through all (or nearly all) recommendations given by Apple, no success to sync from Thunderbird to iCloud.

Any suggestion what to modify or adjust

win10/tbird v140.12.1.esr wont d/l from yahoo. logon appears ok but the d/l bar starts & then just times out. This just started 3-4 days ago. gmail & fastmail ok.

I get hundreds of emails a day, so setting an alert for incoming mail is not practical. Is there any way to set an alert for specific senders whose emails need to be res[ponded to promptly? I am not at the computer all the time.

On Saturday morning 27 June 2026 I tried to login my Orcon email account via Thunderbird (which I have been using for a long time). But my login didn't work, I got a message saying "login to POP3.orcon.net.nz with username habitation failed." On 30th June 2026 I reported the problem to Orcon.

Orcon gave me the following settings for Thunderbird. I have done that and even made a new account: Incoming Server Type: IMAP Mail Server: imap.orcon.net.nz Port: 143 SSL: Off Authentication: On (username and password required)

Outgoing SMTP Server: Mail Server: smtp.orcon.net.nz Port: 25 SSL: Off Authentication: Off

Since then I have spent many hours and going around in circles with Orcon's Technical Support to resolve this, but no luck. They blame Thunderbird. I used Thunderbird Troubleshoot Mode. The message that comes up reads: login to server mail orcon.net.nz with username habitation failed. Please can you check that your server settings above are correct? And if there is a bug? Irma

I am migrating from thunderbird flatpak to thunderbird linux repository and the British English dictionary, which is included in the flatpak version, isn't included in the linux repo version.

I can see there are two different British English dictionaries in the "dictionary and language packs" page.

Please can anyone help and tell me which British English dictionary is included in the flatpak thunderbird? I would like to use it with the linux repo version, I like that dictionary.

I am plagued by demands that I allow Thunderbird to "permanently delete all" my email from Gmail. Why would I want to do that????? I'd like for Thunderbird to be able to compose, send, receive, and delete emails in Gmail, but not permanently delete all of my email there. What can I do?

I wish the subject line in an email would be editable ala Office Outlook. I make frequent online orders and the acknowledgment emails often simply have a subject line such as, 'Thanks for your Order' 'Order delivered' 'We got your Order'. That tells me very little. If I could add something like, 'Best Buy - backup ups battery', 'eBay - head phones', 'Walmart - house wares' that would make life much simpler. --Don

Unfortunately I could not add a screenshot to this message. Under my account [redacted]@zonnet.nl there is a "Postvak IN". This means inbox. In this inbox should new mails appear. Right now there comes nothing in it. However, two lines below there is suddenly another "Postvak IN 22". New emails appear here now. I already tried to drag this inbox into the inbox under [redacted]@zonnet.nl but that doesn't work.

New emails now appear with a yellow bar: The text in the yellow bar at the bottom says: (I translated)

No unique identity was found matching the sender address. The message will be sent using the sender field and the settings of the identity Martin Belonje <[redacted]@zonnet.nl>.

To my opinion this has to do with the fact that the inbox has moved from its original position.

I hope you can help me out.
