"Moving Thunderbird data to a new computer" can't get it to work

I'm trying to copy the data from a PC running xubuntu 2022 onto one running Ubuntu 2024. I'm following the instructions here (https://www.google.com/search?channel=fs&a… (прочетете още)

I'm trying to copy the data from a PC running xubuntu 2022 onto one running Ubuntu 2024.

I'm following the instructions here (https://www.google.com/search?channel=fs&client=ubuntu-sn&q=moving+thunderbird+data+to+a+new+computer) and all seems to work up to and including "On your destination computer" step 7 (Close Thunderbird). Step 7 "From your Thunderbird profile folder in File Browser, go up two levels" - this sends me to "Common". Step 8 Right click inside the folder, then select Paste.

Here's the problem: we're not told what to click on, but I assume it's ".thunderbird", which only contains 11 items although apparently 348 were transferred. Clicking on empty space (I tried that in desperation) doesn't work. I'm probably overlooking something obvious, but I can't see what that might be. Any suggestions gratefully received. In the meantime, I will keep trying and if I somehow get it to work I'll let you folk know.

Dear all - I can't send email from Hotmail, and haven't been able to for several years now - I use the webapp, but i'd love to get Thunderbird working again...

I tried following the troubleshooting advice several times, including the most recent 2024 post, and still it won't work...

Here are my current settings, I think they're slightly different from the screenshot, but it still doesn't work!

I've checked my firewall and I don't think it's that.

I am using a VPN.

Since update to ver 128.1.0esr the "new subfolder" feature does not work (does not show window to name new folder). I have many subfolders and I rely on them heavily. I tried restarting Thunderbird, then Windows. I ran in debug mode with no success. I downloaded and installed 128.2.0esr again. No change.

Is it possible to go back to the earlier version? Which is? Thanks, Frederick

I have a very old computer with windows 7 and Thunderbird 11.5.14. 0 32 bit I have finally got a new computer with windows 11 and have installed Thunderbird 128.1 ESR 64 bit I tried to export from the old version but it will not install on the new version. How do I move my contacts from the old one to the new one - contacts are all I care about , I can get the email by logging in. There doesn't seem to be an export for just contacts.

Im willing to put them in something like xcel as a csv if needed. thanks for any help.

A few days ago my hotmail email stopped working in Thunderbird- a box appears asking me to enter my password for ---email address--- on imap-mail.outlook.com. When I enter the password (yes, it is correct and I have logged into the webmail version) I get a second box telling me the login failed.

Last night I began getting the same messages for one of my other emails, a business email address... Login to server imap.hosts.co.uk failed and additionally now my last email address is doing the same.

I looked up the server settings and tried to check they were all ok but all appeared as it should be. I am at a loss. I went though the options in this helps section about emails but none of the options were applicable.

Any help appreciated.

I have only my profile file (eg 1b3ylg2i-default) from backup. I copied it into the Thunderbird\profiles folder on the new computer. I have tried changing the information in the parent higher up files (installs.ini and profiles.ini) to match, but no luck. Thunderbird complains that it cant find my profile. The source computer is dead, I have only this file as backup.

Is there a way?

I have two Google (yes, Google, not gmail) accounts. When setting up my gmail in Thunderbird, I was prompted to enter the Google account. I have entered the wrong one. Consequently, I cannot access my gmail: "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password."

I have tried all ways I have found in this forum to get rid of it again, such as editing the prefs file, but to no avail.

How can I remove the Google account from the Thunderbird settings to be able to insert the new one?

I follow someone instructions: Menu icon > Help > More Troubleshooting Information Under 'Application Basics' - Profile Folder - click on 'Open Folder' A new window opens showing contents of your 'profile name' folder Exit Thunderbird now - this is important Scroll down - delete all of the following files.

Hello. I am a registered Thunderbird donor. I was using Nebula 128 with no problems on a desktop computer with Windows 10. (The computer will not allow upgrades to Windows 11). All windows updates are installed properly. After updating yesterday to Nebula 130.b03 I can no longer send emails directly from Windows desktop explorer using the send to email recipient right click function (it does nothing) or from within an Office app (Excel and Powerpoint say there is a problem with the mail client and to restart the mail client, (which I have done multiple times). Word shows a Mapi error, which I include a picture of.

From within the app, I can send and receive emails with no problems, on my different accounts, but this lack of functionality is really aggravating. I would love to be able to rollback to 128, (not sure how to do so or if it's possible, and also if it wouldn't automatically update me back to 130)... or would also have to wait and see if the next update whenever that is fixes the problem.

I have obviously restarted both the computer and Thunderbird several times, with no luck. Tried running Thunderbird in troubleshooting mode, but had the same result.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. John

Running Thunderbird 128.1.1esr (64-bit) for Linux Mint (mint-001 - 1.0) on a Linux Mint 22 Wilma system. When I click Message Filters and then Filter Log, I do not actually see the filter log, only a check box to enable it, which is already checked" - same as https://support.mozilla.org/kn/questions/1438189 I noticed it today and, as I normally check the filterlog on my primary (POP3) account about once a week, it would appear to have only started happening recently. I checked the filterlog.html files for all of my accounts - they all looked OK. Went through TB Clear Log, Close for all of them, quit TB, reload TB, same as before. filterlogs not showing. Cleared 'Enable the Filter Log', quit TB, deleted filterlogs from profiles, reload TB, enabled filterlogs, quit TB, filterlogs had been recreated in profiles by TB. Reload TB, moved some filtered mails back to inbox, ran filters again, they had been moved from inbox to deleted, showed when filterlog.html viewed in Firefox but still not showing in TB via Message Filters and Filter Log. All help greatly appreciated.

Even if a new one comes in, it disappears. Some are in my all mail, but not all.

Hello, I use TB intensely, and I have donated for its use. A week ago it automatically upgraded to esr, and since then, my search function has been essentially disabled. When I search the inbox or the all files, the program freezes for 10 minutes after I enter the first letter. It works fine when I search the sent messages. The software seems to prioritize message downloads and may be searching my google mail server rather than the downloaded messages. I tried without internet, and the delay is the same. I have windows 10. My husband's laptop remained in version 115, and it works fine. Please fix this bug urgently. I would greatly appreciate your help.

Here is a very strange problem: 1. all my notifications about interac are attributed to only one person: INTERAC e-Transfer: A money transfer from X has been automatically deposited. Under correspondents I have Y, no matter what X is. 2. When I do a global search for INTERAC, all notifications show up, but attributed to Z, different from X and Y. Further, Z only sent me an interac transfer once, maybe 10 years ago. Indeed, if I global search for Z, none of the interac notifications show up. 3. this is ONLY on Thunderbird, not at the server.

Any ideas?

Will Thunderbird mail still function in the same way from 16th September?

I apologise if this question has been answered somewhere else. I searched but could not find it.

Hi. My windows 10 PC failed to boot a few days ago and after a long period of trying to salvage it, I wound up having to reset the Windows OS on it (Go figure) and that of course resulted in the loss of all of my 3rd party software and applications.

I have since restored the PC and and the My Thunderbird email software. I did have a backup of my profile of sorts from a few months ago when I was forced to migrate email ISP companies from Cox Communications to Yahoo when Cox left the email industry last spring. I say 'of sorts' because I only kept the file structure from the actual profile down vice from Thunderbird down. And even if I had done that, it wouldn't work well since I copied out the profile before the switch to Yahoo, so the email accounts have the old Cox server info not the current Yahoo ones.

I have come to terms with the email loss and I did take the opportunity to switch from POP3 to IMAP something I have been meaning to do for a while now. And I was able to copy over the Local Folders , so it's not all gloom and doom. But what I really need to get is the address book. I have tired to import it using the "import from another Thunderbird Installation" but that ended with an error condition. Is it possible to copy the address book from one profile to another?

Oh and one last thing, Thank you for the ISP configuration data base that T'bird used to auto-configure the IMAP server setups. It made life much easier.
