Hello,

I have a forum set as my homepage, and just today I've been having some login issues with it. Everytime I close and reopen firefox, the cookies won't work for the site. Every other site I have cookies for work except for this one. I checked the cookies list and the cookies are still present within firefox, but I guess they just aren't loading? I haven't changed any settings in firefox or installed any new addons/themes lately.

Now, whenever I try firefox in safe mode, the issue seems to go away. I've tried disabling every addon and plugin in normal mode but still no luck. I have also reset firefox completely, and then proceeded to restore a backup profile after it not fixing the problem. I've also tried reinstalling firefox. The only thing that seems to fix this problem is to set my homepage to something else other than the site. (I tried to see if the other site I set it to, which was deviantart, would have cookie issues as well but it did not)

I've checked my settings for firefox over and nothing adds up. Here is the site I'm having trouble with in case it helps: http://pcpuzzle.com/forum/index.php

Thanks so much.

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

It is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted if clearing cookies doesn't work.

Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Try going to the site, right click anywhere, choose view page info. Click permissions, and change "set cookies" from "use default" to "allow." Tells me if this works.

@cor-el I frequently clear my cache from History > Clear Recent History and I use these settings:

Time range to clear: Everything

Browsing & Download History, Form & Search History, Cache, Offline Website Data, and Site Preferences are checkmarked.

I have also tried deleting the site cookies from the list and deleting the cookies.sqlite file (didn't see any other cookie files) but that did not work.

@tejasunku This did not work for me, and when I reopened firefox it reset back to "Use Default" for some reason.

If you leave tabs open when you close Firefox then Firefox stores the cookies in sessionstore.js as part of the session data, so if there is a problem with creating this file then you will encounter cookie issues.

I tried deleting sessionstore.js (since I close firefox with tabs opened all the time) and that did not help. I even uninstalled firefox completely removing all traces of the program and reinstalled it. It seems that I will just have to have my homepage set to something else for a temporary fix. I also restored my computer to a few days before the 30th (the day this began) because I installed some updates that day, but no luck. Was there any updates to firefox on the 30th that may have caused this?
