insidious addons that embed themselves in my money site when i built it. how do i get rid of them? who allows this to happen and why?
I built a business website over the weekend and one praticualr addon that was embeded in a browser update, attached its own marketing campaign into words and phrases I used in my website the coupons that pop up take the reader away from my site. In my opinion this is insidious leach like advertisnig that undermines ethical marketing and craps on the business site attempt at making an honest living. The info you provide to remove these little monsters is vague. My OS is windows 7 and you go in depth only for windows XP. So who benefits for allowing YELLOW MOXI to attach its coupons like a tick to a dog, without permission, without offering compensation, and like a tick, is a bitch to extract. if you care for real please contact me so i can better understand the whats, whys, and hows to my problem. this is dire. its slowing down my online business and that IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. Who are you using as web host for that web site?
Your web host could be adding that you your web page/s; some low cost hosting services inject advertising into their clients pages to help offset the cost of the low cost hosting plans they offer. (But that would have been in their agreement with you, in the "fine print".)
How about providing a hyperlink to your web site so wee can check it out and see if that is happening for us, too.
BTW, a web browser displays what is sent to it from the hosting server - it can't make that crap up, unless the PC is already compromised. The "trick" is to figure out which end is compromised; the source and the receiver.

hello, mozilla does not install any addons during updates and certainly no adware - this rather sounds like a problem caused by malware on your pc. please go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and do a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and/or a different tool like the free version of malwarebytes.

the addons came in thru mozilla and were also in my chrome browser as well but didnt originate there. and when i built the site they attached to certain phrases i used to redirect to another site. as far as i can tell they were in coupon companion in an addon sent in an update from mozilla. I'm not pissed. I dont know if you know. I assume you dont or didnt and i dont care. the problem was fixed and i appreciate your candor and integrity. but what a shitty thing to do However and I do want to send a shoutout to anyone who has coupon companion on their browser. They might want to turn it off. The people who wrote that program must have thought it would be pretty slick to crawl into websites all over the net and embed in keyword phrases and redirect to other sites to sell their goods and/or services and not even giving a damn about permission or ethical behavior. Thanks mozilla for responding and my faith is restored. My apologies if I offended anybody over there.

He sent me a message today about another issue regarding the same folks who created coupon companion, Groupon. Heres his post:
The great thing about Groupon is that a Local Business
CAN get a lot of new customers in the door... HOWEVER, did you know that with Groupon, the Businesses don't even see a DIME for 60 days or more! That's OUTRAGEOUS! And it means that they not only have to discount their offer for Groupon, but they also have to come out of pocket for a LONG time until Groupon finally pays them. PLUS a Local Business CAN'T shut down their Groupon if they get too many people coming into the door... (Which is why a couple of businesses have actually gone OUT of business because of Groupon). Lastly - there is no way for YOU as a Local Business Consultant to PROFIT from Groupon.
