Windows 7 64 bit Firefox 32.0 Dell Inspiron 5423 14z

I cannot get Firefox to stop crashing. I really don't want to switch to Chrome but it seems stable.

Things I've tried:

1. Uninstalling Firefox, erasing all App data. Downloading a fresh copy and installing it again. 2. Updating Adobe Flash. 3. Restarting Firefox with Add-ons disabled. (It still crashes)

Firefox still crashes.

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this? Thanks!

Well, I'll be damned. I thought I had updated it.

Seems to have stopped crashing.

Some crash reports have a reference to webspeech

Are you using anything like that?

Are the crashes happening when you visit or have visited specific websites?

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

Thank you for the reply, sir.

I cannot detect a pattern for when the crashes happen. There seems to be none, in fact. Sometimes I'm fine with a dozen tabs open. Sometimes it crashes when I have just gmail and facebook open. It has even crashed while in the background, when I was using another application -- notepad.

That's strange. I've never used any kind of web speech.

I'll disable hardware acceleration and see how things go. Thank you for your advice!
