Thunderbird opens with blank screen after upgrade to 102.3.0

more options

After the upgrade from Thunderbird 102.2.x to 102.3.0 the application became unusable. It starts with a complete blank screen. The menu button does not work. When I click on it, nothing happens. Right click on the menu button actually works. I can enable the menu bar, but the bar isn't working either. Clicking on the menu items does not open the menus. The folders pane is completely empty and when I click on the dots in the folder pane a small vertical dash appears. I removed Thunderbird and deleted all profile folders and all registry entries but after reinstalling (version 102.3.3) the same problem occurs. I cannot get it to work anymore. I am using Windows 8.1.

Help > Troubleshooting Info > about:profiles. What profile names are listed, and which one is indicated as being in use?

If it is default-release, then your information should still be there.

Access profile name folder - Help > Troubleshooting info > click the button next to Profile Folder Exit Thunderbird and rename these files:

  • folderCache.json
  • folderTree.json
  • session.json
  • xulstore.json
  • virtualFolders.dat
  • Click on 'Mail' folder and delete 'smart mailboxes' folder

Please tell us your results.

Thanks for your answer but unfortunately that did not solve the problem. I even deleted everyhting and started with a clean install but the same problem occured. I solved the problem by running Thunderbird in Windows 8 compatibility mode. Then everything went back to normal. Maybe there is a bug somewhere causing this behaviour.
