after downloading firefox from mozilla website ( to get the latest version ) on my ubuntu

the icon of firefox is missing and replaced by a weired question mark as shown in the screenshot ?

You need to add a icon to the launcher shortcut.

There should be Firefox icons to use in Firefox folder > Browser > chrome > icons > default


Note the folder name of chrome has nothing to do with the separate Chrome web browser from Google which came out six years after the browser we know as Firefox did. Chrome refers to the UI.

this problem was solved by creating a link to firefox shortcut in the desktop

but launching firefox from firefox extracted folder doesn't show the icon even if I added the icon to it thanks anyway
