My PC is Acer Aspire V3-372T running Windows 10 Home 64 bit. Screen resolution is 1920 x 1080.

Sometimes the text all over the screen has double strike-through lines. When the window is minimized and re-opened these lines go away. Sometimes just hovering the mouse cursor makes some (but not necessarily all) of the lines to go away. This does not happen every time, but often enough to be an annoyance.

I have sample screen shots files (.PDF and .doc) which I would like to attach here. But, I am getting following error message when I try to attach. "Error Uploading Image - Invalid or no image)". What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Anil Deshpande

Chosen solution

As a paint event appears to fix this (minimize and restore). Try the following.

On the toolbar > Options > Advanced > general and try changing the setting for hardware acceleration. Restart Thunderbird and see if it changes.

you have to have image files to attach here. you do not have image files you have the digital equivalent of a book.

open you images in windows paint. save them as PNG and then they will upload.

Matt, Thanks for the reply. But, Windows Paint does not read .doc or .pdf files. I used PDFill Free PDF Tools program to convert the file to .png. It is attached herewith. I would appreciate if someone could now help me solve the "double strike-through lines" problem. Thanks - Anil Deshpande

But you don't need to create PDF or DOC files. PrtSc wil snapshot what is on the screen. Just paste directly into Paint. Save as a PNG, GIF or BMP file. Upload that file.

And look for the Snipping Tool as well.

PDF is not good at image fidelity. It's hard to read the text in your screenshot.

Is this distortion of text particular to Thunderbird? Does it not occur in any other programs?

Hello Matt and Zenos. Thanks for your suggestions/tips.

I have "un-checked" the hardware acceleration option as Matt has suggested. I will let you know if this solves the problem (as I said before, this problem does not occur every time; only randomly. So I have to wait and see).

I will follow Zenos' suggestion to create .png files if and when the problem recurs. Also, note that this problem occurs only in Thunderbird; not in any other program.

Thanks again Anil Deshpande
