flash keeps crashing since update
Hello, I have just had my pc update itself for both windows 8 and firefox. Since then, every time I open a web page it hangs up, then crashes, saying that shockwave flash has crashed.
I have updated flash to the most recent, and disabled hardware acceleration, but this has made no difference.
I never had this problem until the updates were forced upon me. My browser is now virtually unusable.
Surely there must be a fix for this? Can anyone tell me how to get my browser working correctly again?

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.
- Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
- Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste that into the "Post a Reply" box. (Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the ID's. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like)

Here is that list, there are only a couple starting 'bp'

So does this list not help in finding a solution?
Is there anything I should do to try and restore my browsers functionality?
The first 5 crash reports haven't been submitted yet, please click on each one to send them to the Mozilla crash report server. When the hyperlinks receive the BP- prefix post those to this thread.
The one crash report that was submitted looks like an issue caused by the Flash plugin.

Anyone have a guess at what might fix this problem?

So I guess, after nearly 8 years using firefox, I have to get rid of it?
Not good. I sometimes wonder what on earth the people in charge of 'updates' are doing!
And not having even a suggestion as to how to fix it either.......
Decent chance the problem has to do with Flash's protected mode. The way to see if that is the problem is to modify this file: C:\windows\syswow64\macromed\flash\mms.cfg
Add this line: ProtectedMode=0 and see what happens.
If that fixes your problem, you now have another issue because leaving protected mode off leaves your computer vulnerable to attack from malicious swf files. To solve this issue or to work around it is beyond the scope of this thread.
