Why am I asked everytime to enter a password when I send an email?

I go to write a new email and when I go to send it it asks for my password. I do not have to enter it everytime just the first email of the day I send. This is the same password for getting my emails and I do not have to enter that password.

The server that you receive email from is either a POP or IMAP server. It will prompt for a password to use its services. The server used to send is an SMTP server. It will also ask for a password. If you do not want to be bothered to enter the password yourself, click the check box in the password dialog box for Thunderbird to remember your password. Thunderbird does not ask for an email password. It just passes the server request on to you.
