Connection timeout while installing Magento

Hi guys!

Since I upgraded to Firefox 29.0, I can't install Magento. After entering the database information, the automatic configuration process begins, but after two minutes or so Firefox shows me a connection timeout (maybe request timeout, locale is not English) message. Magento installation doesn't end and I have to start all over again. At first, I thought it could be a server issue, so I played a little with max_execution_time and mysql.connection_timeout, with no luck. However, I could install Magento using Chrome (process took like 4-5 minutes, as expected). I also have a working three-weeks-old Magento installation and I'm pretty sure I installed it using Firefox (27 or 28, can't remember), so the error must be in the latest versions.

Any ideas (not involving switching to Chrome)?

I'm using lampp and Firefox on Arch Linux x86_64.

Are you talking about https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire.../?src=userprofile?

If not, I hope that the Magneto Forum will have a better response for you http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards.../9/

I'm talking about Magento, not Magneto. I have posted this same thread on Magento forums, but I think it's a Firefox issue, not Magento's.

Got to love autocorrect, geez sorry about that. Magento wikki

I took a look at the eCommerce solutions open source Magento, and saw some examples of http://go.magento.com/: http://www.grainmill.coop/ http://www.planetarchitecture.com/

They load great in Firefox, however your question is about the set up. Just to make sure, this is what I am referencing: http://www.magentocommerce.com/knowle.../ce18-and-ee113-installing#install-prereq-software and http://www.magentocommerce.com/wiki/1.../magento_installation_guide

  • What is the error, it is ok if it is in a different language
  • Can you attach a screenshot of the error?

If we cannot find a solution here, http://webcompat.com is a great resource that the Web Compatibility team uses to address issues between browsers as well. Please post back with the error and let's see what we can do!
