I have acquired an annoying pop up file named Optimizer Pro by safe cart that scans and tried to sell me their software

I ran my malware bytes and deleted any malicious files it detected, I re-set firefox. I did a Windows file search for "safe cart" and "PC Utilities" 'Optimizer Pro', and no files by that name were found. It keeps scanning my system several times a day and blocks my screen with a list of "registery items", etc that need cleaning. I found some references of Safe Cart (the seller of this software) that it is connected to IE. I do not actively use Internet Explorer, and haven't for over 3 years. I problems with it for years, (growing worse in 2009), connecting to internet, finding web pages, etc. I switched to Firefox and have never had that problem. In fact, if I could remove IE from my system, I would, but I am told I have to keep it to run Firefox. How can I get rid of this malicious file that I feel IE has sent me as an unsolicited "gift".

Hi.

Sorry you're having problems with this, however, this should be an easy fix. You will want to run the below scanning software as each of them will look for different types of malware.

You will also want to navigate to your Control Panel to remove PC Optimizer Pro, Optimizer Pro v3.1 and any other recently installed or unknown programs from your computer.

You'll also want to download ADWCleaner which will scan your computer for anything that PC Optimizer installed without your knowledge.
