Firefox crashes

FF consistently crashes - win 7 /64 - norm and safe mode - several crash IDs logged but all return with no info / "EMPTY: no crashing thread identified; corrupt dump" as in: http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-bce76322-2856-46d8-8117-406da2120826

FF just crashed while writing this, opening new browser instance, and typing about:crashes to get the ID details.

Unfortunately the linked crash report is empty (@ EMPTY: no crashing thread identified; corrupt dump) and doesn't include any data, so it is not possible to find the cause of the crash.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
