OK, I'm a late bloomer and just updated from 3.6 to Firefox 11. Frankly, I saw no reason to update but had the time and decided to give it a try. I am having several problems and could use some help:

1. The default icon for sites is gone and now has a square with lined border. How can I change this?

2. ALL icons on my tab bar are these square when opening a large session of tabs. No site icons appear.

3. Sometimes, and inexplicably, when moving from tab to tab, the tabs on the tab bar move randomly left, then right. Not quite scrolling and not changing their order, but moving 5 or 6 places in both directions. Then they stop. Why?

4. Tab Mix Plus settings for highlighting the current tab, for example, do not work any longer.

5. If I open a menu, for example bookmarks, and scroll to find something, the menu closes before i get the chance to locate my item. Its like everything is suddenly updating and closing the focus on the menu. How can this be fixed?

Appreciate the input. This will take a little getting used to, but some of these issues are enough to consider reverting. And, I did search for some of these but go very little exact hits.

Found the solution to one issue:

2. ALL icons on my tab bar are these square when opening a large session of tabs. No site icons appear.

This was a plug-in for favicons that was conflicting.

Will continue to sleuth.

  1. 3 and #5 above are related to the default theme. If I change themes, these problems go away. VERY odd. Problem is, I can't find a theme I like better than default.

I wonder why the theme affects the tab "movement" and menus collapsing while anything else is going on?

OK, found a theme and all above resolved.

BUT, one last problem:

If I restore a session, only about half the tabs are loaded until I switch to them and refresh each tab individually. I tried all sorts of cache settings and no luck. Can anyone point me in the right directions to solve this one?

If you go into Tools, then Options, is "Don't load Tabs until selected" checked?

Thanks Tyler, but that is unselected and grayed out. I cannot change it.

That setting is only available if "Show my windows and tabs from last time" is selected.

You can set the Boolean pref sessionstore.restore_hidden_tabs to true on the about:config page.

Thanks. Those options are not available with Tab Mix Plus. Disabled TMP, but missed it too much to leave like that. Especially the tabs at the top of the window.

About to try Session Restore to see if this solves it.

BTW, also disabled Memory Fox to see if that was the issue. Mem usage rose to over a GB, so had to get that back quickly.

Learning....slowly....

If you use the Session Restore from TMP then try to disable that and use the build-in Firefox Session Restore.

OK, got it all :)

Session manager works brilliantly along with Tab Mix Plus which I wouldn't let go of. Uses less memory as well. And everything loads without hitch on a session restore.

So now I feel like 11 will work for me. But its always a puzzle with FF updates. Had to track down an incompatible FavIcon plug-in, DEFAULT theme was giving me fits and that just should not be, a few hours of trying different cache settings, disabling an re-enabling extensions, finding the magic combination to TMP and Session Manager...Exactly why I do this so infrequently. But glad now that I did and hopefully something above might help someone else get tweaked.

Thanks.
