Firefox will NOT goto URL when typed in. How to fix?

When I type a URL address in the address bar and then hit enter or the arrow on the right side of the bar Firefox will not go to the URL. It acts as though nothing has been entered.

See if you have the extension "AVG Safe" and if you do disable it, and refer to "Problematic Extensions" an reinstalling AVG Free without the "Link Scanner" and without any other extension they may try to install.

When Firefox 8.0 came up, if you have that extension, it should have been right up at the top as a third party extension.

Thanks much. I found an add-in for an ASK search bar. Once removed the problem was solved.
