The History sidebar will not go away. How do I get rid of it?

While deleting history a few day ago, I opened History up as a sidebar on my screen. I can not figure out how to get rid of it. Any ideas?

Use the X in the upper-right corner of the sidebar.

go to View/Sidebar and uncheck History. Thereafter, you can manually open it by keying in Ctrl/H
