i have an HTC EVO & use the broswer that came on it. If I download Firefox, how do I make it the default?

I have no idea whose browser the EVO uses. The is no 'about' screen equivalent. If I were to download Firefox mobile, how do I make it the default browser? And will it import the bookmarks I have? (There is no export or import option on the EVO browser that I can find.

Please see this article: Will Firefox work on my mobile device?

Thank you. I know it will run on the EVO. That article (or any of the others I've read) doesn't address either the default browser or the bookmarks question.

Well, it does actually. See the relevant links on the same page.

It cannot import bookmarks from the stock browser on Android. You can set the default browser by clicking the launch web browser globe button then in the "compete action using" select "Use by default for this application" at the bottom and select Firefox.

Let's see ... That page: Getting started with Firefox for mobile

New to Firefox for mobile? Well you’ve come to the right place. This article covers all the basics and will get you up and running in just a few minutes. It also has links to other great articles that you might want to explore later.

Nope - and I read each of the following:

Where are all of the controls?
How do I open a new tab?
How do I quickly find the site I want?
How do I bookmark a site?
How do I zoom into a website?
   How do I manage downloads?
How do I sync Firefox between my desktop and mobile?
How do I find and install add-ons?

First link on that page:

Firefox is now available for mobile devices running Android and Maemo. This article explains how to download and install it and covers basic device requirements. Downloading and installing Firefox

To download and install Firefox on your device just go to firefox.com/m and click on the download button.
The Android Market app will open to the Firefox installation page. Just tap install and then accept the permissions.

Nope.

Link 2 on that page: How do I use the Awesome Screen?

The Awesome Screen gets you where you want to go quickly by giving you a list of your most often visited sites along with the ability to browse through your bookmarks, history, and desktop Firefox tabs. Just tap on the site you want to visit. No typing involved! This article talks about accessing bookmarks, history and tabs from your desktop computer. In order to do that you need to set up Firefox Sync. How do I sync Firefox between my desktop and mobile? will show you how.

Nope. (It refers to accessing bookmarks created by Firefox)

Links 3 and 4 on that page:

Not relevant - not worried about zooming or tabs at this point.

Link 5: How do I use tabs on mobile?

sub links:

How do I bookmark a site? - press Star. got it.
How do I find my bookmarks? Awesome screen . got it.
How do I sync my bookmarks with my desktop? don't want to do this anyway

I see nothing that tells me how to get at the bookmarks currently on my phone that were bookmarked via a different browser - the the browser that comes on the EVO. I don't know whose browser it is.

Can you be more specific as to location? Perhaps cut and paste the text into your reply?

Thanks.

From Kbrosnan: It cannot import bookmarks from the stock browser on Android. You can set the default browser by clicking the launch web browser globe button then in the "compete action using" select "Use by default for this application" at the bottom and select Firefox.

Ah! Many thanks to kbrosnan! That's what I needed to know - you can't import them. I was hoping you could, but at least now I know I can't. Setting the default sounds quite simple. Thanks very much!
