Was using firefox but then wouldn't open websites and now will not open Firefox start page. Have re-installed but still the same. Had nothing else open and this happened while going from one web search to another

I am using a lap top on Windows 7 64bit. Was doing web searches using Google. One search ok then next search got message Problem opening page and Server not found. Checked internet connection (ok). Closed Firefox and tried to open but says cannot find start page. Have re-installed but still have problem. Other browsers (Internet Explorer) working ok.
