Some other stupid program I did not want to open in the first place decided to close down on its own the -exact- moment I pressed the close button. Below it was Firefox, with its close button placed in the same position - naturally, since both programs were maximised. This wouldn't be a problem, as even though I had a myriad of tabs open, Firefox is set to save my session when I close it. The tabs would take a while to load, but I wasn't in a hurry. So I started Firefox. Up pops my start page. Nothing else. I checked - Firefox is still set to restore my session. It didn't, and I don't care why, I just really need those tabs back.

EDIT: Some more information I forgot to add. Firefox ended up opening a few times after it had first closed, because of some bizarre effect that caused it to appear to crash and close repeatedly, but eventually popped all the windows up again, causing an actual crash. I have, however, tinkered a bit with the sessionstore.js/bak files, including restoring them to 3-days old versions, which should make that moot, but this helped none.

Also, Firefox was/is set to confirm that I wanted to close it, something else I have checked and verified. This never happened when it first closed.

In the Profile Folder, try renaming sessionstore .bak (if it exists) to sessionstore.js and restarting Firefox.

You need a sessionstore.js with those tabs if you want Firefox to reopen them.
If you have an old sessionstore.js with those tabs then place that file in the Firefox Profile Folder.
The file sessionstore.bak is created if you start Firefox after a crash has occurred, so if you have such a file from a crashed session then you can replace sessionstore.js with that file to retry to open that crashed session.

Set the pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
