No, there are no plans to do Firefox for the iPhone at this time. Apple's SDK agreement and their distribution model would not let us put it in the App Store, so we're spending our time and energy on more open platforms.

Christian, only "Opera Mini" is available for the iPhone. Opera Mini does not have a JavaScript interpreter, and does its rendering using a proxy server.

Firefox depends on its own JavaScript interpreter, which is forbidden by the iPhone SDK agreement. We cannot distribute Firefox for iPhone without either violating this agreement or replacing nearly all of its code. Instead we are focusing on platforms like Nokia Maemo and Google Android that allow us to distribute our own browsing engine to users.

I would like to point out that I have read some comments from Apple and they mention they are going for standards rather than proprietary tools. First: I think that Firefox is a must in devices. I like it too much. Second: concerned to read the comment on "open platforms" if Iphone is supposed to be open to standards. Shouldn't be that hard :(
