Hi I have had my firefox setup so that it didn't show the urls drop down with sites I last visited so people didn't see what I looked at so I could be private. Yet this "Top Sites" checkbox was added recently and caused my url bar to show past sites visited. I find this a privacy violation.

Firefox 78 already did display eight (pinned) top sites in the location bar drop-down list as possible suggestions, but you had to go to the Firefox Home page to be able to remove them. Firefox 79 merely made it easier to disable showing top sites via "Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Address Bar".

If you do not want to see any suggestions then set browser.urlbar.maxRichResults = 0 on the about:config page.
