Unable to sign in to Firefox Private Network Browser extension

Whenever I click on to login to Firefox private network browser extension, I'm greeted with a modal window. When I click on "Sign in", the modal window disappears, and I see this error in the extension: "Sign in failed, sign in to your Firefox account or create one". This problem started happening when I upgraded to 78.0. It used to work earlier in 77.0.1.

The problem is solved somehow and I'm able to log in this morning. In fact I'm using FPN while posting this message.
