  • I have my preferences set to start Firefix with windows and tabs from last time.
  • I keep Gmail, YouTube, and my own website (which is also my home page) set as pinned tabs. When I quit Firefox, I have ONE window open with those three pinned tabs open. No other tabs or windows are open when I quit. This never varies.
  • When I start Firefox, the three pinned tabs open as they should. But a second occurence of my home page ALSO opens in an unpinned tab.

I'm using - Firefox Quantum 59.0.2 (64 bit) - macOS High Sierra v10.13.4 - Mac Mini (Late 2014) but this situation has been the case through three Macs, several OS versions, and many Firefox versions.

I have Chrome set the same way. Chrome starts with only the three pinned tabs. This is what I expect from Firefox. So my question is: Is this a bug? Is it something in Preferences? And of course, is there anything I can do to fix it?

That is how it works. You will always get at least one normal tab on the next when you close Firefox with only pinned tabs open. You can leave one normal tab (e.g. a builtin about page like about:blank) open to avoid opening the home page(s).

It's not that I don't want the home page to open, it's that I don't want any page (pinned or not) to open that I didn't leave open. This is what is implied in the Preference settings (and Chrome seems to understand this). Oh well, it's just a click away, albeit every time I start Firefox. Thanks.
