firefox 57.0 crashes immediately on mac 10.9.5
i had a 4 year old version of firefox and did not click update, but downloaded current 57.0. it seemed to install normally, but crashed immediately. before that happened, everything worked normally. however, after that, pages, numbers, and keynote also crash immediately. it appears that firefox changed something critical. everything else still works normally. after the first crash, i restarted, and downloaded the dmg again. same result. i did variations of this many times, with the same zero result.
help!

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing when you open it. Please do the following to give us crash IDs that will help us understand more about the crash.
- (OS X 10.6 or previous) Click the Finder icon in the dock. Your home folder will be selected. In the right side of the window, click the Library folder to open it. Then open the "Application Support" folder, the "Firefox" folder, the "Crash Reports" folder and finally the "submitted" folder.
(OS X 10.7 or above) Click the Finder icon in the dock. On the menu bar, click the Go menu, hold down the option or alt key and select Library. A window will open containing your Library folder. Then open the "Application Support" folder, the "Firefox" folder, the "Crash Reports" folder and finally the "submitted" folder. - Open the 5 most recent files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
- Paste each ID with bp- into the reply window on the forums.
Thanks in advance!
You can find more information and troubleshooting steps in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.

i only have two, as i deleted the firefox folder in application support earlier.

EXC_BAD_ACCESS / KERN_MEMORY_ERROR is the reason. It is showing Video Card Drivers are the reason which is the usual issue. You are a Mac so I looked http://www.mac-forums.com/macos-apps-and-games/242396-kern-protection-failure.html
So unless your can update or reinstall the Graphics Card Drivers and as possibly old would be to turn off graphic intensive programs for looks and or limit programs that need to startup to save on some Ram.
Which you have not mentioned but going to go there : Go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Help ? --> Troubleshooting Information Page and take a look in the Accessibility section if accessibility is set to "true" there. if yes, go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Options --> Privacy & Security panel and under Permissions check the setting to Prevent Accessibility Services from accessing your browser.
If this is a old system along with a old Video Card you may need to go back to a older version/
Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 and below is no longer safe to use for every day use do to secuity issues, but 52.5.0 ESR is. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.
You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
Hope this clarifies the issue and given you some help.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
i'll get to that soon, but can you make any guess about why the three apple programs also suddenely died? can i change anything that would revive them? thanks.
This isn't actually a graphics crash, it's a font crash.
